(PIX11) -- This former child-star grew up before our eyes appearing in the critically-acclaimed film “Akeelah and the Bee" and starring on the Nickelodeon Show "True Jackson VP."

In three much-talked-about TV movies, "The Trip to Bountiful," "The Carlita White Story" and "CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story," she received wide recognition and showcased her on-screen maturity.

A talented singer, Palmer has also recording music.  Now, she's making history as the youngest talk-show host and Broadway's first black Cinderella.
