‘Central Perk’ pop-up coffee shop opens in NYC this week

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Order a coffee from Gunther, grab a seat on the orange couch and sing along to “Smelly Cat,” “Friends” fans.

Central Perk, the iconic coffee shop that played a central role in the popular sitcom, is opening this week in Manhattan as part of a special pop-up celebrating the show’s 20th anniversary.

The replica shop will be located at 199 Lafayette St., at the corner of Broome Street, in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood.

It opens Wednesday and will stay open through Oct. 18. Visitors can stop in Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., or Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
