JACKSON, N.J. (PIX11/AP) -- Approximately half of the rides at Six Flags Great Adventure are up and running after a power outage brought the park to a standstill Sunday afternoon.

The power outage left several patrons briefly stuck on rides.

In a statement from the park, spokeswoman Kristin Siebneicher said: "Earlier today the park experienced a power outage. All of our guests were safely unloaded from the affected rides within 20 minutes. Jersey Central Power and Light is here assessing the source of the outage.  Power has been restored to portions of the park and, following a safety check some rides have begun to resume normal operations."

Power was restored to part of the park shortly after.

"Some areas of the park were affected, however all rides were closed as a precautionary measure," said spokeswoman Kaitlyn Turi.

It's unknown which rides were affected by the outage.

In August, the Nitro roller coaster at Great Adventure lost power halfway up the 233-foot-peak, forcing riders to walk down along the tracks to the ground.
