NYPD: Pedestrian struck and killed by bus

NEW YORK (AP) – The NYPD is investigating an accident in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a city bus in Queens.

It happened at Astoria Boulevard and 80th Street around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the 55-year-old victim was found unconscious in the roadway.

She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police determined that she was crossing as the bus was making a right turn into the boulevard.

The driver remained on the scene.

The victim was identified as Melania Ward of Queens.
