NYPD officer injured in Harlem high-rise fire

HARLEM (PIX11) -- A police officer was injured in fire inside a public housing development in Harlem.

The fire broke out inside a second-floor apartment at the Saint Nicholas Houses.

Firefighters have since knocked out the flames.

Officials say the officer went into the building, but was overwhelmed by smoke.

He was transported to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

A civilian was also treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
