Queens fire leaves three dead, at least three firefighters injured

FLUSHING, Queens (PIX11)-- Three people were killed and at least three firefighters were injured after a fire in Queens Tuesday morning, according to the FDNY.

Police say all the victims had some kind of stab wounds. The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death.

The blaze broke out at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday inside a sixth-floor apartment of the six-story building at 143-40 Roosevelt Avenue.

Authorities say the fire was confined to apartment 6-C.

Police say the victims were all found near the entrance to the apartment. Their gender and ages were not immediately known.

Three firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It was brought under control by 5:24 a.m.
