Newark high schoolers plan walkout, protesting ‘One Newark plan’

(PIX11) -- Newark high school students take part in acts of civil disobedience including boycotts, sit-ins and walkouts as part of the Newark Student Union's "Newark Student Shutdown'' protests. The group seeks increased funding of Newark public schools and for the state to return control of the district to local officials.

Hundreds of students are expected to walk-out at 7:30am Tuesday morning.

Locations: Arts High School, 550 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.; Central High School, 246 18th Ave., and Science Park High School, 260 Norfolk St., Newark.
