(PIX11) -- Frozen pizza maker DiGiorno is under fire for using a Twitter hashtag about domestic violence to promote their brand.

The company's account tweeted "You had pizza" with the hashtag #WhyIStayed.

The topic started when domestic violence victims started sharing their stories of abuse after video of former Ravens player Ray Rice knocking his then fiance out in an Atlantic City hotel elevator was released by TMZ.

Digiorno's followers were outraged and the tweet was quickly taken down.

An apology message was sent out minutes later saying they didn't read what the topic was about.

DiGriorno also responded to each person who contacted them to apologize as well.
