WATCH: Puppy helps cheetah cub recover from surgery

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (PIX11) — A cheetah cub at the San Diego Zoo had the help of an unlikely “best friend” when recovering from surgery recently.

In June, the San Diego Zoo matched up one of its male cheetah cubs with Raina, a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy. The cheetah cub, named Ruuxa, underwent surgery Wednesday to repair growth abnormalities in his limbs. Raina accompanied Ruuxa to the veterinary hospital,  waited patiently throughout the procedure and then greeted the cub and his bandaged legs as he came out of sedation .

The San Diego Zoo posted the adorable video on its YouTube channel.

The zoo says that Ruuxa is expected to make a full recovery and should be playing with his puppy pal again soon.
