LI man killed in motorcycle crash

EAST FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Long Island man was killed in a motorcycle crash in East Farmingdale early Saturday morning, police said.

James Barnett, 18, was making a left turn from Central Avenue onto southbound New Highway when he lost control of a 2006 Honda motorcycle that struck a metal light signal support pole at around 2:40 a.m.

Barnett, of Bay Shore, sustained a serious head injury and was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, where he was later pronounced dead.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check.

Suffolk County Police are still investigating. Detectives are asking anyone who has information about the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
