NEW YORK (PIX11) -- It was only a matter of time

The B44 bus was taken out of service after a bedbug scare.

A customer reported seeing the bloodsuckers crawling on another passenger.

Riders freaked out and all of them ran off the bus.

Bedbugs are known to be hitchikers -- hiding in clothes and bags -- and jumping from one person to another.

The MTA has already admitted to having a bedbug problem on subways.
