SMITHTOWN, Long Island (PIX11) — Four drivers were arrested and one vehicle was seized at a sobriety checkpoint on Route 25 in Smithtown overnight Friday.

The Suffolk County Highway Patrol conducted the sobriety checkpoint to prevent injuries and fatalities associated with driving while intoxicated, especially as a prelude to Labor Day weekend. A total of 525 vehicles went through the checkpoint.

Two drivers were charged with driving while intoxicated: Max Haller, 22, of 5 Dianne Ave. in Centereach and Keith Delauzon, 40, of 8 Bond Lane in Nesconset.

Taylor Tramazzo, 18, of 5 Middle Drive in Lake Grove was charged with driving while impaired by drugs.

Richard Rodriguez, 41, of 20 Heritage Place S. in Nesconset, was charged with driving while intoxicated. He has two prior convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol in the last 10 years.

The four arrested will be arraigned on August 23 at First District Court in Central Islip.
