(PIX11) — The USTA has announced that Serena Williams has been named the top seed in women’s singles for the 2014 US Open. This is the third time that Williams has been the number 1 seed at the US Open. She won the title on both prior occasions in 2002 and 2013.

Last year, Serena won her 5th US Open single title, tying Steffi Graf for second most in the Open era.

The 2014 US Open will be played August 25 – September 8 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
