NEW YORK (PIX11) - A yellow cab caught fire Thursday evening on the upper level of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge.

The blaze sent clouds of black smoke billowing into the air just after 4 p.m.

Traffic was shut down on all lanes of the upper level snarling traffic into Manhattan.

The fire was extinguished and the charred vehicle has been towed.

All lanes have since reopened; it's unclear how the fire started.

No injuries were reported.
