CONNECTICUT (PIX11) -- Lawmakers are mounting a national push for liquid nicotine bottles to be safer.

They want the product that's used in e-cigarettes to come in child-proof packaging because of how dangerous it can be if ingested.

The bottles are small and look similar to what eye drops are packaged in.

Over 1,500 calls have been made to poison control centers nationwide this year because of exposure to liquid nicotine.
