Man, 72, suffers blood clot injury after getting sucker punched in West Village

WEST VILLAGE (PIX11)-- A 72-year-old man is suffering from a blood clot injury after he was sucker punched by a young man in West Village Monday evening.

Authorities are looking for the attacker and his accomplice after they participated in what appears to be a another case of the infamous Knockout Game.

In surveillance video released by police, the victim is seen walking toward one of the attackers near 99 Jane St. Monday evening. The first assailant waited with a closed fist until the victim was close and punched him, causing cuts and bruises on his head and face.

The suspects are both believed to be in their 20s.

The puncher then fled with the second man who was waiting across the street.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Police say both men are in their 20s.
