Attacker caught on camera trying to rape woman in Crown Heights stairwell

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- Police are searching for a man who was caught on surveillance cameras attempting to rape a woman in her Brooklyn apartment building.

According to police, the incident occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.

In surveillance video released on Sunday, the male is seen following a woman up several flights of stairs.

Police say the attacker tried talking to the woman while he followed her. The culprit then pushed her to the ground and attempted to rape her.

When the woman was able to fight him off, he fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches and 130 pounds.

He was clean shaven with close-cut hair.

    These crimes are getting outta control. I’m starting to believe they are gang related. What do they have to do to be considered a gangster? Smh. And he looks really young. Sad.

    VERY detailed description! Good thing there’s a video to clarify the most identifiable traits of the rapist…you know…the part of the description that the media hilariously and blatantly refuse to publish. I mean, COME ON! It’s lunacy in this day and age that you can’t say the attacker was black if he was black!

    LUDICROUS!
