BERNARDS, N.J. (PIX11) – A tractor trailer driver died early Thursday when a truck collided with a sedan and burst into flames on a New Jersey highway, authorities said.
It happened about 1:30 a.m. along northbound Interstate 287 near mile marker 27 in Bernards, according to a spokesperson with the New Jersey State Police Department.
The morning commute was snarled for miles, with delays up to 90 minutes reported by drivers between exits 22 and 26.
After the vehicles crashed, the truck overturned and the driver became trapped. The tractor trailer then became engulfed in flames, killing the unidentified driver.
The driver of the sedan refused medical attention, police said.
An investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
