CARNEGIE HILL (PIX11) -- Four males surrounded and robbed a teenager on the Upper East Side this week and the attack was caught on camera, police said.

Just after 1 a.m. Wednesday, security cameras captured the mugging outside of 55 East 86th St., police said Thursday.

The footage shows the group of four surrounding a 17-year-old.

One thief rips the teen's necklace off, while others surround him and strip him of his other valuables.

At one point, the victim tries to swat their hands away, but the four continue the robbery.

The group took the victim's cellphone, headphones and necklace then ran away.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).

The young man being robbed seems to know the robbers. The men all appear to be walking together prior to the attack, then the man who was relieved of his belongings seems to be walking away calmly in the same direction as the men who robbed him. This doesn’t seem to be a random event.
