3-year-old boy shot inside Long Island home

SMITHTOWN, Long Island (PIX11) -- A three-year-old boy was shot on Long Island Tuesday evening.

Suffolk County police responded to a shooting at a home on Devon Place in Smithtown just before 7 p.m.

Authorities then discovered a three-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

The boy was rushed to St. Catherine's Hospital, but was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is undergoing surgery.

Neighbors say a woman lives at the home, but it is unclear if any children live there.

It is unknown if any charges will be filed.
