FRANKLIN SQUARE, Long Island (PIX11) -- A Queens landscaper was arrested Saturday for cheating clients of more than $30,000.

James R. Markellos of 150-19 84th Rd. in Jamaica approached three separate clients between January and June of this year to "borrow" money to replace tools stolen from his truck. The 46-year-old has several landscaping accounts in the Elmont and Franklin Square areas of Long Island, detectives said.

Markellos promised the victims he would repay the borrowed money and landscape their property, but he never returned. He is now being charged with third-degree grand larceny, petit larceny, and fraud in the second degree.

If anyone has any additional information about these incidents or feels that they are a victim to contact Nassau County Fourth Squad at 516-573-6553
