East Flatbush apartment fire kills 1, injures 3

EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- A 44-year-old Brooklyn man is dead and three more people injured after a fire broke out in a apartment building early Sunday morning.

Police and firefighters responded to a fire at 411 E. 49th St. in East Flatbush about 4:12 a.m. on the top floor of the three-story building. After the fire was extinguished, Edzer Desir was transported by EMS to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Three other people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures.

The fire was under control by 4:58 a.m., the fire department said. The investigation is ongoing.
