Police: 2 injured in Pharmachem lab explosion

TOTOWA, N.J. (AP) — A police dispatcher says two people were injured and buildings were damaged in an explosion at Pharmachem Laboratories in Totowa in northeastern New Jersey.

Dispatcher Carl Baker says the explosion occurred Saturday evening and damaged the company building and a nearby building. Baker says the injuries to the two people were believed to be minor.

He did not know what caused the explosion or have any further details.

Pharmachem Laboratories did not immediately return an email for comment. The company is headquartered in Kearney, and makes ingredients for the nutritional foods industry.
