QUEENS (PIX11) — Two men have died after an early-morning crash on the Long Island Expressway Saturday.

Police arrived at the scene at 12:37 a.m. and found a 30-year-old driver and 31-year-old passenger unconscious and unresponsive in a 2004 Subaru Impreza turned on its side. The men sustained serious body trauma and were transported to Elmhurst hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

A later investigation revealed that the 30-year-old driver was travel driving westbound on the LIE when he attempted to exit onto the Grand Central Parkway. He failed to navigate the turn properly and struck the guardrail and then a metal overpass station, which turned the car on its side.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Both identities are pending family notification.
