Police investigating dead chickens found at NJ cemetery

LINDEN, N.J. (PIX11) -- Omar Moss has lived near this Linden, New Jersey cemetery for five years.

"I hope they get to the bottom of it," said Moss.

According to police, around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to the Rosehill Cemetery off Route 1 and 9 on a call of a suspicious event.

When officers got there, in section 50 of the cemetery, they found two decapitated chickens and three machetes.

Police said in the same section 50, they also found one live chicken and blood on a tombstone.

According to police, in section 38, they found another three machetes with blood on them, and four decapitated chickens, and also blood in a tombstone.

On Friday, the cemetery had no comment.

Police said animal control officers removed the dead chickens. ASPCA is also investigating.

Police said it may have been some kind of a ritual. They are still investigating.
