Calverton, N.Y. (PIX11) — A mini tornado may be to blame for the skydiving death of a Long Island man Wednesday afternoon in Calverton.

The instructor was also critically injured. A skydiving safety expert told Newsday that wind and dust turned into a funnel, making it impossible to control the parachute.

The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the fatal incident.
