WILLIAMSBURG (PIX11) — It’s no way to start your morning — you come outside, and you find out your car is missing allĀ four of its tires.

Mechanics that we spoke to say it could take less than four minutes if the person knows what they’re doing. Obviously, cops want this tire bandit off the streets.

In the Orthodox community of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, a tire-thief is on the loose.

“It’s all over the neighborhood. I don’t know if they do it for the hubcaps or for whatever reason … but they simply put the car on some bricks and take off the tires.”

There have been 11 different reports since June 27 where owners simply go to bed and wake up with all four tires missing.

“This is something that we take very seriously, something that the NYPD takes very seriously. We’re going to do everything we can to get the people responsible for these crimes.”

NYPD is considering putting more cops in the area. This Wednesday, there were five reported incidents in one night.

Despite it being a Friday night, there seem to be an abundance of parking spaces.

Folks are saying we’re not taking any chances parking our cars on the streets — now they’re moving them into individual lots.

“I usually park down the street, but now I don’t know. I park it in a parking lot.”

Police are also checking surveillance cameras in the area to see if that will provide any leads.

A mechanic we spoke to tonight said there isn’t much you can do to protect your tires.

If you know or see anything on the streets, NYPD urges you to call crime stoppers.
