(PIX11) – Selfies are nothing new, so for one to captivate the Internet it needs something extra — like the Queen of England photobombing the background.

Australian field hockey player Jayde Taylor achieved instant selfie fame when royalty wandered into the frame of Taylor’s photo opp with a “Hockeyroos” teammate.

Taylor took the photo at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre before the Australian team’s 4-0 victory over Malaysia during  the Commonwealth Games.

Queen Elizabeth II, who appears to be a veteran photobomber, flashed an adorable smile in the background.

Taylor tweeted the royal selfie with the message: “Ahhh The Queen photo-bombed our selfie!! #royalty #sheevensmiled #amazing.”

After it was retweeted and favorited thousands of times, Taylor of course tweeted Ellen, whose Oscars selfie was seen by millions: “@TheEllenShow “I think our selfie tops yours! #queenselfie #queenphotobomb #hockeyroos #callme.”

With selfies becoming the preferred style of cell phone portrait, some go viral for all the wrong reasons.  Others, such as this one, are rare and fantastic.

The queen selfie, however, is now this year’s winner.
