MILWAUKEE (PIX11) --  The 12-year-old girl allegedly stabbed by two classmates to appease Slenderman received a Purple Heart in the mail from an anonymous veteran.

According to ABC, The letter from an anonymous veteran reads "The only heart I could find! Be strong!"

The card also contained an authentic Purple Heart.

The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the military who have been injured or killed while serving.

The family of the victim asked supporters to send her purple hearts, because of the girl's favorite color and shape.

At the request of the family, the girl has not been identified.

Police say the girl was lured into a park by her friends during a sleepover in late May and stabbed 19 times.

After the attack the victim spent six days in the hospital, but is now recovering at home.

Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier allegedly attempted to murder the girl to please Slenderman, a fictional character created on the Internet as a scary story.

The two girls face up to 60 years in prison if they are convicted as adults.

Two doctors who evaluated Geyser decided she was unfit for trial. Her competency hearing will be held August 1.

The purple heart is a military medal and is not intended for
civilian recipients for injuries received in during a war conflict or
any criminal activities. It was a nice gesture by the person who
had good intentions but the medal should not be kept by the girl
for any reason. It should be returned to the Secretary of Defense,
Room 3E880,The Pentagon, Washington, DC, 20301. The family
should have never asked anyone to send purple hearts of any
