SOUTH AFRICA (PIX11)– For most boys at 9-years-old, speaking to a girl would have sufficed in grade school. Getting eloped? That takes a whole new level of courage many grown men have trouble with.

The world’s youngest groom recently married with his much older wife for the second time in Ximhungwe, South Africa.

Wearing a silver tuxedo and bow-tie, Sanele Masilela, 9,  walked the aisle with his wife of a year, 62-year-old Helen Shabangu in front of around 100 guests.

The union with her underage partner was watched over by her long-term husband, Alfred Shabangu, 66. Both Shabangus have five children together.

Their pairing done in the name of a ritual, however, has caused controversy. A year ago, the baby faced Mansiela tied the knot with Mrs. Shabangu after claiming his dead ancestors told him to do so.

Despite the considerable age gap and the love for his current spouse, little Sanele wants to marry a girl his age eventually.

“When I’m older I will marry a lady my own age,” he said to the Mirror. “I chose Helen because I love her and, although we don’t live together all the time, we meet at the dumpling site where my mother works regularly.”
