NEW YORK (AP)
— A teen driver charged with manslaughter in the traffic death of a 4-year-old New York City girl has been charged with looting a dead woman’s apartment.

The New York Daily News reports Saturday (http://nydn.us/1qnP8Mv) that prosecutors in Manhattan charged 18-year-old Franklin Reyes on petit larceny charges Friday.

The newspaper says his 45-year-old father was charged on similar charges last month. The father declined to comment to the tabloid.

Authorities say the two took more than $2,000 worth of jewelry, cash and wine from the apartment of an elderly tenant who had recently died of brain cancer.

Police have charged Franklin Reyes in the June 2013 death of Ariel Russo. They say Reyes was fleeing police when his SUV jumped the curb and struck the little girl.
