NEW YORK (PIX11) – Calling all untapped talent: the national Ball Up Streetball tour is coming to NYC to give athletes a chance to turn their love of basketball into a profession.

Players are invited to open tryouts this weekend to compete for a Ball Up contract worth $100,000 and a roster spot on the 2015 team, which is awarded at the end of the national tour.

Tryouts start at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dyckman Courts, located at 204th Street and Nagle Avenue. They’re open to all New York-area athletes 18 and older.

Ten of the best players will then go head-to-head against the undefeated 2014 Ball Up team at 6 p.m. Sunday at Carnesecca Arena, at 8000 Utopia Parkway in Jamaica, Queens.

And as if that’s not exciting enough for prospective players, Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Nick Young will be the local team’s guest coach.

The 2014 Ball Up All-Stars roster includes: The Professor, AO, Baby Shaq, Air Up There, Bone Collector, Special FX, Springs, Sik Wit It, Violator, G Smith, Mr. Afrika and the newest member to the team “Too Easy” from Maryland. NBA players, past and present that have participated in previous Ball Up events include: James Harden, Derek Fisher, Julius “Dr. J.” Erving, Allen Iverson, Dennis Rodman, Tracy McGrady, Matt Barnes, Rick Fox, DeMar Derozan, Rafer “Skip To My Lou” Alston and Eric Bledsoe to name a few.
