NEW YORK (PIX11) – A desperate mother turned to PIX11 News to get her daughter the help and tough love she needed after a shocking, violent video was posted online showing a group of girls beating a stranger on a New York park bench.
First seen on PIX11, the footage shows a gang of young girls brutally beating a woman to the ground earlier this month. Since one of those girls – just 14 years old – was identified by police, she has been on the run. Her own mother had no idea where she was.
The girl’s mother called PIX11 News as a last resort, and police arrested the girl.
Clinical psychologist Dr. Jeff Gardere and the girl’s mother visited the PIX11 Morning News Thursday to break down the warning signs and distinguish between typical teenage rebellion and life-threatening behavior.
Signs that a child is rebelling:
- Poor peer group
- Poor academics
- Defiance and Anger
- Use of alcohol and drugs
- Behavioral and sexual acting out
Reasons for rebellion:
