Nurse charged with allegedly stealing from patient with dementia

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (PIX11) — An employee of a Suffolk County nursing home has been arrested after police say she stole jewelry from a patient.

Suffolk County Police arrested 29-year-old Beyonca King, an employee at Berkshire Nursing Rehabilitation Center in West Babylon on Friday.

The family of a patient with dementia called police on June 25 when they noticed that a necklace and charm worn by the patient went missing.

Police conducted an an investigation and arrested King.

King is a certified nursing assistant who has worked at the facility since 2010.

It was determined by police that King stole the necklace from the patient and pawned it for cash.

King was charged with petit larceny.
