RIDGEFIELD, Conn. (PIX11) – Ridgefield police revealed Wednesday that a 15-month-old boy who died earlier this week had been left inside a hot car outside his father’s job.

According to Captain Jeff Kreitz, no 911 calls were made from the scene Monday, and police are trying to figure out how long the boy was inside the vehicle.

Kreitz did confirm that the boy was inside the car for an “extended period of time.”

When he realized his son was in the car, the father drove the boy to Danbury Hospital where employees called police.

The air temperature outside the car reached nearly 90 degrees that day.

The family has not been identified publicly and no charges have been filed.

The investigation is ongoing and the cause of death has not been specified pending a report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
