BAY SHORE, Long Island (PIX11) – A couple walking to a Long Island ferry made a grisly discovery Tuesday, stumbling upon the partially dismembered body of a woman in Bay Shore, authorities said.

The unidentified female’s remains were found about 6:50 a.m. in a municipal park lot on Gibson Street, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

A cause of death has not been determined and no arrests have been made.

Canine units were at the same area where several bodies were found on Gilgo Beach between 2010 and 2011. It is unclear if authorities believe there is a connection between the Gilgo Beach murders and Tuesday's grisly find.

Anyone with information in the ongoing investigation is urged to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
