Fancy food favorites emerge from NY show

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Thousands of specialty food purveyors showed off their mouth-watering wares last week at the Javits Center.

Below are a few stand-out treats, including a few winners, and where you can find them:

Holy Crap Breakfast Cereal: This cheekily named day starter is made with chia seeds and hemp, two of the most popular ingredients right now that are said to give consumers an added energy boost, which athletes love.

Sriracha Popcorn: We’re seeing Sriracha everything from mayo to popcorn to chocolate. Popcorn continues to be mega big in specialty food and this is a great example. Seattle company; guy grew up selling snacks at Madison Square Garden.

Lentil Rice Crispbread with Sesame and Pink Salt by East Hampton Gourmet Food: This treat won the most coveted sofi Award for Outstanding New Product of 2014. They’re crispy, the size of a plate and just 30 calories each.

Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Chips: These treats are akin to Fritos, if Fritos were made from seaweed. And they clock in at just 85 calories per bag.

Bourbon Nib Brittle: This “southern artisan chocolate” was also a sofi Awards winner. It’s made with cocoa nibs aged in bourbon barrels.

Beet Yogurt from Blue Hill Farms: A sofi Awards finalist, this yogurt is made with beets and raspberry vinegar for a tangy boost.

Gray salt caramel with dark chocolate by Fran’s Chocolates: Fran put the salted caramel trend on the map – and has some elite fans. This is President Barack Obama’s favorite chocolate, which he doles out to Oval Office visitors. The chocolates won the sofi for Outstanding Classic.
