CRESTVIEW, Fla. (PIX11) – Police say a woman walked into a Wal-Mart and left her dog to die inside a hot car that sat outside for hours.

49-year-old Cassaundra Rasmussen was arrested on animal cruelty charges after her dog “Waldo” was found dead inside her car last Thursday, according to WPEC.

Rasmussen left Waldo in the car with no water or food while she “browsed” for approximately 13 hours inside the store, police said.  Although the window was cracked slightly, the dog succumbed to heat exhaustion due to the high temperature.

The dog was found by another shopper and reported to police.
