Conn. mother leaves child in car while grocery shopping, arrested

ORANGE, Conn. — A 36-year-old Connecticut woman was arrested Thursday after leaving her child alone in a parked car while she shopped for groceries.

Responding to a 911 call, the Orange Police Department arrived to Trader Joe’s on Boston Post Road at about 11:15 a.m, where they found the 3-year-old in the vehicle, according to police reports.

The Shelton, Conn., resident was arrested and charged with leaving a child under 12 unsupervised in a motor vehicle and risk of injury to a minor.

The child is now in the custody of the father and was not hurt.
