LOS ANGELES (PIX11) – A 62-year-old nurse who had sex with the corpse of a woman he cared for in a Southern California hospital learned his fate this week.

Alejandro Razo, of Reseda, Calif., was sentenced to two years in state prison, to be served in county jail, with about 6 months of that sentence to be served under supervised release, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

DNA evidence helped to convict Razo of having sexual contact with the body of an 82-year-old woman at Sherman Oaks Hospital, officials said.

Prosecutors said Razo was tasked with preparing the woman’s body when she died of natural causes in January 2013.

“Soon after, while the defendant was alone with the deceased victim, another nurse walked into the room and discovered Razo with his pants down, having sexual contact with the woman’s corpse,” prosecutors said.

A nurse for 20 years at various health care facilities, Razo has been ordered to stay from the hospital where he worked at the time of the offense.

He must also attend sexual offender meetings and weekly psychological counseling during his supervised release.
