BROOKLYN (PIX11) -- A 14-year-old girl is being questioned by police in connection to the vicious gang assault on a woman in a Brooklyn park last week that was recorded and posted on social media.

The video, which was posted on Facebook June 27, showed three girls walking up to a woman sitting on a bench in the Parade Grounds and start yelling at her.

A group forms, and the girls attack the woman, kicking and punching her to ground as bystanders cheer and record the violence.

The assault finally ends when one man steps in and breaks it up.

“We can’t afford for this to happen in our community. What we are asking for is the victim, we are asking her to come forward because we need to get these people off the street," Tony Herbert of the National Action Network said at a press conference last week.

Police say the girl is with a parent and charges are pending.
