ISLIP, Long Island (PIX11) – A mutilated rooster was found hanging from a tree on Long Island, its eyes plucked out, authorities said.

The gruesome discovery was made near Spur Drive South and Freeman Avenue in Islip, according to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The SPCA revealed details of the incident Sunday.

Officials said the animal was found hanging by its feet from a tree. Its eyes were plucked out and there was a candle nearby.

Now, they’re searching for whoever was involved in the display.

Check rituals, either Santaria, or Hatian Voodoo. It looks like a ritual killing. Not a thrill kill like the hanging cats. If it’s the region of Islip I am thinking of it is a largely Latino neighborhood. But the way it was killed would tell more of the style and what the ritual is supposed to help do. The red sash (looks like one from the pic) tying the rooster plays a part too. Have your researchers check on that angle. But that’s just an idea.
