More than 200 speed cameras to be installed near NYC and L.I. schools

NEW YORK (PIX11) — A big move to improve safety in school zones comes to our area.

On Wednesday, Governor Cuomo signed legislation to install 245 new speed cameras in NYC and Long Island.
The cameras will be placed in school zones and operate during and immediately before and after school hours.

In the video above, Cuomo admits this move will help save lives.

Drivers caught speeding will be mailed a $50 ticket.

The new law goes into effect in 30 days.
