BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 20-year old is in a coma at a New York hospital after he was struck by a van, but it’s what happened after the crash that has his family outraged.
William Williams’ uncle, Michael Tucker, tells PIX11 that his nephew was punched in the face by an NYPD officer from the 75th Precinct and says he has video evidence to prove his allegations.
The video allegedly shows an officer punch Williams while he was on the ground, but Tucker believes more happened.
“Whether or not my nephew is a suspect, what the officer did was wrong,” Tucker said.
The incident happened June 17 in Brownsville. Tucker alleges that Williams was riding a dirt bike along Atlantic Avenue near Elton Street when the officers tried to stop Williams but he continued to ride. After a few blocks, Williams was hit by the driver of a van.
It’s still unclear if the offers were chasing Williams, who was not arrested or charged with a crime.
“My nephew did not deserve this, he was hurt from being hit and the officer then punches him after the fact. I want a full investigation,” Tucker said.
Tucker added that he has more footage showing the officer punching Williams repeatedly. PIX11 is still waiting to see that video.
The NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating the incident.AlertMe
