MANAUS, Brazil (PIX11) — With the USA only 30 seconds away from the biggest win in the national team’s history, Portugal’s unbelievable goal tied the game for a draw.

Within 5 minutes of kick-off, USA underdogs were 1 point down after Nani scored for Portugal.

After an intense 50 minute struggle, USA’s Jermaine Jones equalized the score.

Fans all over the country went wild, happy with the result but thirsty for another goal.

USA hero Clint Dempsey obliged, scoring with 10 minutes left in the game, making the score 2-1, USA.

USA fans were ecstatic, relishing in their apparent, unlikely win right up until the last 30 seconds of penalty time.

Portugal’s Varela scored against the US within the last seconds of the game, leaving both teams with a draw in full time.

This game had the highest viewership in ESPN World Cup history, beating out viewership for the Bama-A&M rematch game from last season and the 2012 Rose Bowl.
