The Real Housewives of New York play for a spot in the USTA

NEW YORK (PIX11) — LuAnn de Lesseps and Jill Zarin of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” each vied for a chance to compete on tennis’ biggest stage: the US Open.

They each played mixed doubles in the 2014 US Open National Playoffs USTA Eastern Sectional Qualifying Tournament on Monday.

The US Open National Playoffs provide the opportunity for all player,s 14 years of age and older, to earn a spot into the US Open.
Both de Lesseps and Zarin lost their matches, but enjoyed their time playing for a spot in the US Open.

The USTA Eastern singles and mixed doubles finals will be held this Saturday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, starting at 10 am.

The winners at the National Tennis Center advance to the US Open National Playoffs in New Haven, Conn., this August to play for the spot into the US Open.
