“Orange is the New Black” star Selenis Leyva stops by LIVE

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Multi-talented actress, Selenis Leyva currently stars as Gloria Mendoza, the quick-witted Latina, in the Netflix hit series, Orange is the New Black.

She can be seen in the 2014 comedy, St Vincent de Van Nuys, opposite Melissa McCarthy and Bill Murray.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Leyva knew she wanted to act from a young age, after viewing the Wizard of Oz, led to an obsession with Dorothy, and later Linda Carter (as Wonder Woman,) Selenis (who is of Cuban/Dominican descent and is fluent in Spanish,) grew up watching telenovelas with her big family and would act out scenes in her room at the ripe age of six.

Selenis is currently living in New York City with her daughter.
