Man tries to shoot at moon, gets arrested

Read was charged with several felony counts after unsuccessfully shooting at the moon.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. (PIX11) — A man was arrested Friday night after authorities say he was trying to shoot the moon with a handgun.

KTVK reports that a woman called the cops, telling them her boyfriend, Cameron Frank Read, was firing from his gun out of their home. The woman’s son was also home at the time.

They pair also told authorities Read had fired a shot out a window after talking about Halley’s Comet.

When police arrived, Read said he was trying to shoot the moon and wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.

He also admitted to smoking marijuana beforehand.

Read was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, resisting arrest, two counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of endangerment, all felonies.
