(CNN) — Two 12-year-old girls inspired by Internet horror stories lured a girl of the same age into a wooded area near Milwaukee before one of them stabbed the victim 19 times and left her to crawl to her rescue over the weekend, police said Monday.

The victim, a 12-year-old friend of the suspects, was in stable condition at a hospital Monday, two days after a bicyclist found her on along a road in Waukesha, city Police Chief Russell Jack said.

The suspects were arrested hours after the girl was found Saturday, and they were being held Monday on preliminary charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. No names were released.

The girls attended the same middle school and had a sleepover at the home of one of the suspects Friday night, Jack said.

“Both suspects had a fascination with a fictitious character that often posted” to websites dealing with stories about death and horror, Jack told reporters at a news conference.

“Based on our investigation, it is believed that the suspects had planned to kill the victim for several months,” Jack said.

Investigators believe the suspects lured the third girl, on the pretext of playing a game, into a park on the morning after the sleepover, the police chief said.

“Once there, one suspect held the victim down while the other suspect stabbed her 19 times — in the arms, legs and torso,” Jack said.

Some of the girl’s major organs were struck, but she survived.

After the suspects left, the victim crawled out of the woods and onto a road, where the bicyclist found her, Jack said.

Jack didn’t say whether the victim had said anything to the bicyclist or police. But authorities searched for the two other girls, and a sheriff’s officer found them walking near Interstate 94, Jack said.

He declined to say whether the suspects had blood on their clothes, but said: “There was evidence that was readily apparent when the two were taken into custody.”

Details that police released about the Internet character, or the person writing as the character, were sketchy. He didn’t name the persona or the sites.

“It’s not one specific site that this character accesses or communicates with children on,” he said.

Jack said he expected the suspects to be charged as adults on Monday afternoon.

Read the article carefully, the day after the sleepover, they we’re suppose to be friends, the parents are not to blame…THEY ARE!!!! They are EVIL!!!!

And how in your sick mind are the parents not to blame? The parents allowed their children to access sites in the internet that should have been restricted to them, the parents should have picked up on some sort or signs that I guarantee were there, these girls were guarantee raised by people who ok had no idea what these girls were up to, but by sensoring your children’s activities they would have never have found those sites and would never have thought of killing someone! The parents are to blame, whole heartedly! You do not have to agree with me at all, but I have a 12 year old and everything she does is sensored and everything she does is monitored and I would never allow her to watch the news either because without all these ideas out there your children will never hear about it to get any ideas! Also I guarantee they were writing these things down on paper like a journal or diary, the number 1 job of a parent is to protect your children at any cost and if that means violating privacy then so be it, and if that means that you have to block channels on TV, Restricting TV, Blocking News, Sensoring what they can access on the internet and so on then so be it! There is a reason TV’s have a V chip and why you can on your computer block certain sites and why they allow you to block certain Ratings, and there is a reason why video games you can buy for your children have ratings as well! Parents need to pay attention! They need to get rid of the “Not My Child” attitude!

I’m just wondering… how do you “guarantee” that they wrote all of these things down? Moreover, why would the parents have access to anything that the girls “write down in a journal”? It’s been a long time since I met a pre-teen or teen with a “journal or diary” as you say (maybe a blog in this day and age, but definitely no diaries). In any case, the parents can only do so much. These are pre-teen girls and I can “guarantee” you, that even when you think you know, see, hear and smell everything your child does, s/he still keeps things from you and there are STILL THINGS YOU DO NOT KNOW. Its just a matter of practicality. In any case, don’t be so quick to judge the parents — they could only do so much… even if they’re the best ones in the world.

Again, look at what these kids are doing.. And the system let’s these kids get away with this type of behavor.. It has gotten so out of control that parents can’t do much ,because they fear they will be arrested if rhey put a foot in their behind. Back in my time as a child if you messed up you hot spanked for being stupid.. And I turned out fine. I’m even a US ARMY COMBAT VETERAN.. And I still believe in “BOOTS TO ASSES” This country needs to re-adjust their thinking on how a parent should do their job on raising kids…

@Tee — Parents don’t always KNOW everything… even though they would like to believe they do.

You’re the same type of fucking idiots that in the 70s blamed dungeons and dragons for causing people to kill others. Just because a story deals with killing and death doesn’t mean that the parents are to blame because the kids had a sick obsession with death. If they didn’t have the internet they’d have just acted out the same. It’s not the parent’s fault or the fictional story’s fault these kids are fucking stupid you self righteous cunts.

I agree Paul – great point!! These girls potted and acted out their sick fantasies after months and months. The parents only have control and power to an extent. What about when they AREN’T at home? Or they DON’T see what their child is exposed to on the internet, TV, etc. ? And what with children that are predisposed to mental illness, aggression, violence, etc.? Parents, unfortunately, can only do so much. How come they aren’t to blame for other things like the Newtown, CT shooting, or the mall shootings that take place across the country? Were parents to blame for Columbine????

  • Deb

Children have access to all kinds of violence. The news shows it daily the internet the movies they watch even the tv shows they watch. I don’t blame the parents I blame society. Those girls knew right from wrong, even with bad parenting a 12 yr old knows what murder is. The internet is part of our lives get over it. there are good and bad things on the internet can we monitor our children? Absolutely can we be there for everything they see? Never. if you don’t want the kids to learn what horrible people there are in this world the close down your internet tv newspapers movies and go live in a bubble! Parents are not to blame in this situation!

My last pay check was $9500 working 12 hours a week online. My neighbour’s sister has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can’t believe how easy it was once I tried it out.

I totally disagree that it’s the parents fault…we don’t know what our children are doing 24hrs in a day…we’re talking about preteens here…even if u think u know everything about ur child guaranteed its still things u don’t… Those children knew exactly what they were doing….they were very clever and evil might I add….let them take responsibility for their own actions and leave the parents alone…everytime a child does something wrong doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad parenting on the parents behalf….u can be the best parent in the world and give ur child the world and they can still turn out screwed up!!
