GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (PIX11) – Highway traffic was diverted early Monday after a dummy wearing an Obama mask was spotted hanging from a noose attached to a Missouri overpass.

The bomb squad was called in, and crews used a robot to remove the dummy and take it to a nearby field where it was tested for explosives.  Officers used an X-ray machine to look for a possible IED, but found nothing.

Police received a call around 5:30 a.m. reporting the figure, which was dangling from the Lefholz Bridge over I-70 between Oak Grove and Grain Valley in Missouri.

“The item that we had, we thought possibly could have been explosive, so we went ahead and shut down I-70 is both directions to ensure that if it was explosive there was nothing that was going to cause a hazard to any passerby, and once we removed that from the scene we opened up I-70 almost immediately,” Sgt. Ronda Montgomery said, according to FOX4 Kansas City.

No arrests have been made in the case, an investigation is ongoing.
